Oh hey, Livejournal!

Sorry LJ, I haven't called you in a while.

Umm.

What's new?

Oh, really? Well, that sounds awkward.

Me? Nothing much. I chipped my glasses last week and had to switch back to my old pair. It's kooky.

No, nothing dramatic.

Yeah!

Haha.

Well, catch you later.

Bye!

Yeah, see you around.

Byeee...

Does anyone here use Twitter?

It's a neat little notification thing - a lot like the status box on Facebook. But it's a whole website. Genius part - you can text from your phone, update it via IM or even via semaphore. You can set it to send you texts of what your friends are doing.
Perfect for an information junkie.

Problem is, I haven't got any friends on it yet.

Here's me: http://www.twitter.com/magnakai
Add me if you like - it'll be fun!

EDIT: TWITTER WASN'T FUN. sadfacegasm

Katamari Damacy.... ONLINE!

Alright, it's not being made by the original developer, and it'll probably go the way of Shenmue Online, but still!

Sort of a brain dump:

I find it interesting that when we're faced with a depiction of what is a relatively common view, we as a nation are (rightfully) up in arms and horrified.

There's been a huge backlash against immigrants over the last five years or so. I think that this sort of behaviour, especially the "Why doesn't she go home?" style comments, is a product of our Daily Mail culture.

The fact is, we're constantly inundated with references to people coming in from other countries and taking our jobs. This obviously creates a climate where people are afraid of foreigners. To people like Danielle and (especially) Jade, who are well aware that their lifespan as "celebrities" and the timespan that they're able to keep up their standard of living is ever-shrinking, someone who's successful, wealthy and obviously upper-class like Shilpa is threatening.

I'm honestly not covinced that Jade and Danielle's behaviour has been knowingly racist. It's definitely racially ignorant, but not racial precudice. In Jade and Danielle's mind, Indians in the UK probably only either own corner shops or are dentists.

Jo, however, is infinitely more sinister. She's been a professional in the entertainment business for quite a long time, has travelled the world working with (presumably) many people of many origins (both class and race) and afaik wasn't really that pampered in S Club 7 either. It's a little disturbing to see someone who should have a degree of worldliness act like she is.

It's funny, Shilpa's by no means a perfect human being, but she's carried herself with an infinite amount more class than any of the catty trio. At this point she's almost untouchable in the public eye.

Shilpa's obviously entered the program with an interest to creating a name for herself in the UK, and Jade etc must've felt threatened by it. It's ironic... I doubt she could've ever dreamed of being this successful without their "help."

On a side note: If, as it's rumoured, Jade and Shilpa are up for eviction, Jade will obviously be voted out in a huge landslide. It'll be beyond hilarious to see her face when she gets abuse hurled at her on eviction night.

Oh, unhappy day!
Our free internet access is gone! The unknown proprietor of "g-net" has locked down his or her network.
Our innocent skulduggery is over.

I just thought I'd let you know that the guy from the DustDevils, an excellent 80s noise rock band has posted up his entire back catalog online. If nothing else, I'd highly recommend Struggling Electric & Chemical. It's easily comparable to their contemporaries Sonic Youth. link
